Theodore Duquay of New Brunswick donated its seeds to Seed Savers Exchange in 1995. 100 days from transplant. Organic.

Learn To Grow It

You should start plants indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date for transplanting them into the garden.

Plant your seeds 1/4-1/2 in. deep in soil trays or pots indoors. When transplanting out the plants, be very careful to limit any disturbance to the roots.

Make sure that your soil is well fertilized as this crop is a heavy feeder and takes a lot of nutrients from the soil. Consider adding compost to the soil the year before you plant.

This crop prefers to grow in cool seasons, so gardeners in Zones 8 and warmer should plant this vegetable in the fall. The shade from taller plants can help keep this vegetable cool in sunny gardens and warm climates.
